The Monkeys are an excellent band. I've seen them live and they are very advanced for such a young band. However I still wonder how they will be taken 'Stateside' due to their uniquely English lyrical content. They have a genuine energy, something sadly lacking from many of the recent guitar based groups ....
I'm from the USA (New England) and also an anglophile. I saw the Monkeys in Boston and on SNL and think they rock (the lyrics do translate). They will be most known for, "what people said they were, which no one knows if they really are." God save the Queen.
They are the best no doubt about it.
