Neko Case: Live, Orange House, Munich, Germany, May 11, 2006.

The lovely and golden-voiced Neko Case makes a return to this lowly blog with this super terrifique set as broadcast on Munich's Radio 2 Bayern. Ever since my live recording of Neko's gig in our City of Champions last month turned out to be shit, I have been searching for a live set that could replace my loss. This is the chosen one. Highlights include Neko's voice of course, the equally lovely backup vocals of Visqueen's hot Rachel Flotard, the stupendously hefty setlist, the sexy voice of the Radio DJ explaining things in German, and the perfect sound quality of this recording.

This post is dedicated to my friend K, who vowed she would trade her organs for a voice like Neko's if the world ever let her. Paging organ traders.

*Downloading tip for those of you who use the Firefox browser (if you don't, get it, it rocks). You can get an extension called Flashgot which allows you to download all the songs on a webpage or as selected in one fell swoop. Let me know if this helps, and please support open source.

I actually have the Neko at NPR mp3s and have posted them here before. Maybe I'll repost, if time and chance allows.

Wow, thanks a million for this one - nice photo of her too! Makes it harder to not have a big, huge crush on her, ya know?

I downloaded the Flashgot, but I'm not sure how to use it - do you have to have some sort of Download manager installed also in order for it to really work?? Any tips would be much appreciated.

Great blog - thanks again!

No, Flashgot comes with its own download manager. You have to install it as a Firefox extension (works only with Firefox browser). When you flashgot files, they usually download in the background, at the same speed as a normal download, so it may take some time for the files to show up. Most people assume the download is immediate; no, the extension allows for multiple downloads, not necessarily speedy download. However, if you have a faster download manager, you could enable it in Flashgot preferences. Also remember to set your download location. Good luck!

Ok, well that should definitely help (I now feel there's some necessity, in this age of smug sarcasm and perpetual irony to say) - seriously.

But I was so eager to get those Neko tracks that I did it the "old-fashioned" way, track-by-track. But I missed Margaret vs. Pauline (somehow)!! Actually, all of your tracks here seem to be unavailable - any chance they'll get reposted (my interest does extend past Margaret vs. Pauline)??

Thanks again,
Dave
