The Arcade Fire! The Super Secret "Neon Bible" Preview Live Gig at St. Michael's Church, Montreal, January 20, 2007

Well folks, this is the closest we will probably get to hearing tracks on the upcoming and very much hyped out Arcade Fire record, Neon Bible, due out March 6, 2007. Or at best, you can call this the first live version, unless of course you live in privileged places or were invited to this gig. Turns out this was an unannounced show for the band's friends and those who got word of it a few hours before show time, in the basement of a famous Montreal church in the Mile End area where the band lives/hangs out. Be aware that the song titles are unconfirmed, so don't leave me those brain threats about how much you know unreleased Arcade Fire more than I do. I suspect the song labeled "Building Downtown" is actually called "Antichrist Television Blues".

The fabulous Final Fantasy opened.

Decent quality recording. Thanks for posting these! One thing though, do they *purposely* try to sound off-key?

the irony is, this sounds a lot more like Bruce Springsteen than the Killers album did ... and that was the default analogy everyone made about that turgid piece of shit.

This, on the other hand, sounds like an amazing album and I give the Arcade Fire a lot of credit. I got bored of Funeral too quickly, but this album sounds like it's got staying power. Well done!

this blogger was at the show and lists "building downtown" as "joe simpson." i'm assuming he saw a setlist or something? i don't know.

That's exactly correct. I saw a setlist, and it was listed as "joe simpson".
