Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Alex Neilson & Harem Scarem: Live, Queen's Hall, Edinburgh, 12 Apr 2006 (BBC Radio Scotland FM Broadcast)

Guaranteed to blow your mind as much as it blew mine, here's the epochal Bonnie "Prince" Billy in concert last year in Edinburgh, Scotland. BPB is joined by drummer Alex Neilson and Scottish folk/roots quintet, Harem Scarem (not to be confused by the Canadian Rock Band of the same name). Harem Scarem provide backing vocals and add a fantastic atmosphere to even those songs we swear by their original versions (e.g. I See A Darkness). This is the show as broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland, and this set raises the bar as far as live shows are concerned. Worthy of release as a live EP.

Read all about the show here.

Intro
A Minor Place
Love Comes to Me
Molly Bawn (traditional Scottish song)
New Partner
Is it the Sea? / My Home is the Sea (Is it the Sea? has never been released officially, live or otherwise).
Master and Everyone
I See A Darkness

Buy BPB's latest, The Letting Go.

Hi there - I'm having poblems picking up those links could you please check if they are still okay.

I'd really like to hear this - i missed this gig unfortunately ... However i saw him last week in Glasgow supporting Nuala Kennedys band at Celtic Connections. My mate saw him with his band in Manchester last week and really enjoyed it.

Thanks for posting this - and I'll check back to try and pick this up later. Great blog - keep up the good work.

Cheers

Hi Fanclub Fan,

Links on KNK are now removed three days after they are posted. This helps conserve bandwidth, which I pay for. Sorry.

Any chance of these being reposted at all? I'm a huge fan of Will Oldham, and this is great stuff. You can still listen on the hype machine, but not download.

"My Home is the Sea." It's from Superwolf-Superwolf (Will Oldham & Matt Sweeney) a fantastic album released in early 2005 (or late '04).
